Golden Arches Said Goodbye to Russia

The first MacDonald’s opened in Russia 32 years ago. It was a sign of a new beginning for the Soviet country - the end of the cold war and the start of a better life. But now, the MacDonald’s is leaving (temporarily) to show their support for Ukraine in the war with Russia.

I believe that the article tackles a crucial matter which we are seeing right now, but it also adds some backstory for the whole picture. As probably the entire world knows by now, Putin is not the biggest fan of the West. He wants Russia to be powerful, more self-proclaimed, independent etc. But in my understanding, you can’t be all of these things in a modern society by doing things on your own. Russia is not that different from other countries. Russians have also tasted “the West” and now it’s unimaginable to get rid of all of this stuff. It is like going back 32 years back and living in an entirely different world - without changes, growth and truly becoming an outcast.

  1. Let's hope they miss the Golden Arches enough to finally resist their leader and stop this senseless war.

Paradise City: Sustainable music festival in Belgium

Paradise City Festival is one of the most popular, because of its green policy. It takes place every year in city Perk and it last for 3 days. Organizers have taken sustainability in terms of providing the greenest festival experience possible. Their mission is to show other people that large gatherings don’t have to be always associated with damaging the planet. They truly believe that people after a visit could implement some of the changes to their own lives. Moreover, Paradise City Festival acknowledges the costs of sustainability, adapting spaces and places to meet its mission with 10 step process: green energy, food, waste, water, awareness, paper, communication, CO2, camping and transport. They are all explained very precisely on their website. It’s just worth noticing that these 10 steps toward sustainability involve a lot more than simple carbon footprint reduction. They are mainly showing a walk toward a sustainable future, both within our matter and for the coming generation

What is sustainability?

In the 21 st century for many people it’s important to safe our planet from the dangerous consequences of global warming. One of the ways to ensure it is to change our way of living. That’s when it comes the idea of sustainability. 20 years ago, scientists from Sweden developed definition of sustainability with 4 basic principles: REDUCE -         “carbon footprint” -        dependance on heavy metals -        dependance on synthetic chemicals -        destruction of nature   By following these 4 rules you will make a major change. Moreover, sustainability most commonly means: maintaining the world we live in. By taking this lifestyle we are encourage to minimize use of Earth’s resources and reduce the damage of human and environmental interactions. Sustainable living aims to achieve an environmental balance. It expects us to return to the earth whatever we take from it . But we have to remember that our actions have a big impact on the environment and we need to protect it for the fu

Zero-waste grocery stores

For people who are tired of big supermarkets and who care about the planet, zero waste grocery stores are ideal. The idea is very simple: store sells food without packaging in an effort to reduce the tool of plastic on the environment.  Shopping becomes more personal and more meaningful. You start to value quality of products not look of their package.  You bring your own containers and you fill everything up by yourself. Goods are stored in clear self-service bins or dispensers. Shops offer all sorts of staples by weight, from raisins to flour to olive oil to shampoo. There’s not a piece of plastic wrap in sight. And most importantly food is much healthier then food offered by discount shops. Goods are usually organic, bio and they are coming from sustainable brands. It often ends up so much cheaper because you’re not paying for the packaging (advertising + branding that goes with it). This idea spread across the world. Even in Warsaw, here are some examples: Deko Zakupy (Włodarzewska
