All Saints' Day

I live close to a cemetery. So, when the 1st of November is approaching many people all of a sudden remember to visit their family. Usually, elders come 2-3 weeks before "the day" to clean but others don't bother. But, people (generally) don’t visit their loved ones if it’s not the 1st of November. The whole tradition is based around religion, but either way most people treat it like an obligatory task. In my opinion, there really isn’t a right or wrong approach because it has to do with what you believe. I believe you can visit a loved one who has passed anywhere you are. It matters that you remember, reminisce about them and keep them alive in your mind. People often go to the graveyard and forget the second they leave about their loved one. As a kid I was the same, but as I’m getting older, I’m noticing the importance of remembering those who are not with us. Especially to not forget them and everything they’ve done.

Furniture Shop

Last week, I was at the furniture shop, and it’s worth to mention that there were many people in the store. The most frequent thing that I saw (unintentionally) were men wearing a bit loose pants... And every time they crouched you could see their buttocks. I mean please belts exist. But my main observation was that people were ignoring this- as they should, but I realised that women were especially careful.  The thing that struck me the most is a fact that, if you saw woman instead of a man in this situation, you would behave differently. I can imagine some nasty comments, intense stares or catcalling. Of course, I’m just hypothesising, but it’s not hard to imagine such a thing to take place. It’s not a secret that women form a very young age are taught to be quiet and have self-control. But why nobody is teaching this to men?

First Graders

It has come to my attention, that a lot of first grade students are far more childish than we were in their position. The things that they sometimes do are questionable... For example, I once saw them playing Twister at the center of the main hall, or they are locking each other in the lockers. But not only their behavior is a sign of their immaturity, but also their looks. They seemed to look much younger than they are.     Well, to be fair, first grades don’t bother me that much. It’s just funny to look at them once in a while, and see in them that “child spirit”. They still have a mind of a kid from primary school, that innocence and freedom. I don’t know if mature part of me sees them as inferior, or I am just jealous of them. They don’t care that this is high school and big decisions will come to them sooner or later. I guess I was the same and still partially am.

Bubbles to Mount Everest

Few days ago, I was at the Saxon Garden and I came upon a very joyous and precious moment. I saw a middle-aged man surrounded by a bunch of children. They were playing with bubbles that he was blowing. He had many buckets filled with bubble solution and other gear. But my attention was drawn to a hand-written poster which said: “Collecting money for my Mount Everest trip”.  I’m not going to lie, a contrast between blowing bubbles and Mount Everest was pretty funny. But nonetheless, I cheer for this man. It’s important to act on your dreams at any age. I guess with time passing so quickly, we think that we don’t have time to fulfill our unimaginable dreams. And in most cases, we just gave up on them. But in my opinion, we should do anything to achieve them. And this middle-aged man is the perfect example of that. Maybe this man won’t succeed but at least he won’t regret trying.
