I’ve read an article in The Guardian by Priya Elan, which talked about the male cosmetic products which are surrounded by false information. The male cosmetic movement hasn’t been discovered now, cause already in the 1700s man were investing in them. The approach was just different. Instead of male beauty influencers, which are setting new trends, the cosmetics were more about economics.
In my opinion, the overall message of the article is really meaningful. Putting time periods together and compering them showed the positive changes made over the centuries. Even though there is still some room for improvement I’m proud of the growth in society. I’ve never had any problem with men using beauty products or wearing makeup. I think it’s because of the social media. They winded mine and other people views and opinions. Mainly because of the huge amount of content, which talks about gender fluidity. I would even risk and say that social media were the first media to normalize and globalize modern masculinity.

I think the 18th century was big on men using cosmetics: foundation, face powder, rouge.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, 'to wind' doesn't have the meaning you hoped for in your text ("They winded mine and other people views and opinions.")
