Facing the lockdown

I’ve read an article in Independent by Shappi Khorsandi called We’re all losing our minds in lockdown- let’s accept and share out frustrations, not bottle them up. The piece emphasises the importance of healthy approach to pandemic and the new struggles that come with it. I agree with a writer on many levels. Me as a teen with online school and most of my free time spent online, I’m faced with the similar problems. Under the lockdown every day feels the same and every activity turns into the routine. It’s gets pretty lonely too. In spite of having a supportive family and friends staying at home puts quite a mental strain. I’ve noticed that many times instead of dealing with my problems I pretend that there are temporary. Normally I would distract myself with busy life but now it’s harder than ever to do it. The best I can manage is finding new hobbies and talking with close ones via social media.

  1. An interesting choice of article and a well-written pot.
In future, clearly separate the report part (1/3 of the text at most) from your reflections - put them in a separate paragraph.

What is sustainability?

In the 21 st century for many people it’s important to safe our planet from the dangerous consequences of global warming. One of the ways to ensure it is to change our way of living. That’s when it comes the idea of sustainability. 20 years ago, scientists from Sweden developed definition of sustainability with 4 basic principles: REDUCE -         “carbon footprint” -        dependance on heavy metals -        dependance on synthetic chemicals -        destruction of nature   By following these 4 rules you will make a major change. Moreover, sustainability most commonly means: maintaining the world we live in. By taking this lifestyle we are encourage to minimize use of Earth’s resources and reduce the damage of human and environmental interactions. Sustainable living aims to achieve an environmental balance. It expects us to return to the earth whatever we ...

Selfie Culture

I’ve read an article which talked about selfie culture and the meaning behind them. The main topic was focus on the choice of the camera angle. And how we sometimes, not even aware, use different poses in the way, that we non-verbally communicate with others. When we choose to take selfies from above, left side, frontally etc. All of the mention angles are providing social and emotional signals to viewers.  Selfies have been around since the rise of social media. I was familiar with the general concept of selfie but I wasn’t aware of psychological meaning behind them. It was interesting to learn about the popularity of showing our left side (apparently this side is more emotionally expressive) but also, I really enjoyed the truest statement of all: we look better in our selfies, than in photos other people take of us. In my own believe I see selfies as a way of self-expression, it really tells something about a person, especially on social media. article: https://theconversati...

Staying at home

During the weekend, I received a message about my class going on a one week “break” because of a covid case among my peers. It means remote school for 5 days and mostly spending time at home.  Nobody at my class expected this to happen, mainly because of the fact that we’re all vaccinated. Of course, I’m wishing all the best to a person who is sick. But honestly, no matter how bad it will sound, I was waiting to go on this break. Not even for a particular reason, but just to have a couple of days to gain more motivation. My initial reaction was a wave of relief. And in some unexplanatory way, I kind of missed having school at home. Especially when it’s so cold and gloomy outside. Also, the whole situation made me realise how I longed for online classes, even though they are not necessarily good for me as a student. What a bummer…
